  • Wonder Tales from Around the World

    Heather Forest

Audio Cassette (August House, Feb. 28, 2006)
Traditional stories endure generation after generation because although they are not literal they resound in truths on a human scale. Folktales remind us of wisdom so elemental it is often lost in the rush of everyday life, so that sometimes common sense makes no sense at all.

  • Folktales from Around the World - Volume 3

    Norma Gangaram

Paperback (Norma Gangaram, Jan. 26, 2018)
There are more than forty stories contained in this anthology of stories. It is the third volume and all of them are guest stories. I take no credit for any of them. Many are my personal favourites, retold to my grandchildren for their enjoyment and edification. These tales run the gamut of legendary characters, legends and folktales from around the world, countries such as Greece, Ireland, USA, Columbia, Europe, Inuit folktales, and Britain. Also from Peru, Germany, Chile, Amazon, the Incas, the lost cities and some Greek mythology just to name a few. I hope to teach readers that all cultures are unique in their own rights and to instill in them respect for all cultures and all people regardless of their religious beliefs or cultural backgrounds. People are all the same despite cultural and linguistic differences. Be tolerant of all people in every circumstance. Do not judge others by the clothes they wear, the colour of their skin, their accent or the type of food they consume. We are all human beings and there is one language we all know how to speak: the language of Love. With love and tolerance, all barriers can be broken. A smile speaks a thousand words and gives off enough energy to warm the heart. Food is a beautiful way to share love. It engages our senses and makes everyone feel good. Sharing food shows respect for the other person and builds bonds of friendship. We live in an incredibly diverse society. It is my heartโ€™s desire to encourage young people to be tolerant of that diversity. We were all, once, those cute, innocent babies who were loved and cherished before we grew into adults.
